Ahoy Scouts -

It's almost time for the annual Raingutter Regatta! Do want to set sail with us?

Pack 731's Raingutter Regatta will be held on the morning of Saturday, August 9, 2008, behind the Prince of Peace Church in the street on Ardsley Place. (Note that this is a week earlier than previous years, so that it will *not* conflict with the Crofton Shootout soccer tournament.) Practice runs will begin at 9:00a.m. and the double-elimination races will begin at approximately 9:30a.m.

Making a Raingutter Regatta boat is easy - much easier than a Pinewood Derby car. The Pack delivers the official boat kit to your door. You just secure the sail and decorate your boat - no woodworking required! Then the Scouts blow their boats down gutters filled with water for a quick and fun event. All Scouts will receive participation ribbons, and the top three finishers will get medals. Certificates will also be awarded for boat design and creativity.

If you want to participate, please reply to Molly Weems at committeechair@croftonpack731.org no later than Wednesday, July 29. Be sure to include the Scout's name and address so we can deliver your boat kit. If you do not want to participate, please tell that to Molly Weems so she won't bother you with reminder notes.

We'll have a great time sailing the Seven Seas, so be sure to reply ASAP. Hope to see you at the Regatta!

Camp Tomahawk
It's nearly time for Camp Tomahawk and I am sure your scout can't wait for Camp to begin.

You should have all received you Camp Tomahawk packet of information by now. Please read it thoroughly and contact your Camp Tomahawk Den Leader if you have any questions.

Please remember to use the Crownsville Road entrance to Camp Tomahawk and, due to a bridge replacement project, be aware that RT 450 South does not currently connect directly with Crownsville Road. There are several ways to reach Camp Tomahawk and I suggest that you use mapquest (1581 Crownsville Road, Crownsville, MD 21032) to find the route that works best for you.

If this is your first Camp Tomahawk, I strongly encourage you and your scout to participate in Camp Tomahawk Orientation on SUN 07/13/08 at 4PM. This will provide you and your scout with additional information as well as the "lay of the land'.

I also encourage the All Week Den Leaders to stop by Camp Tomahawk on Sunday afternoon 07/13/08 to ensure that their Den Box is in order (missing items are much easier to address on Sunday) and check to see if your Den has any assignments (Song, Skit, etc.) on Monday morning. I have also used this time to prep the hats with the curly bead strings, prep the name tags and "mark" the hats in a way that you can find your den in a sea of similar colored hats.

I plan to arrive about 1PM on Sunday 07/13/08 with my son to help load the Den Boxes and then work with my Den's Box.

See you at Camp Tomahawk, Tomahawk, Chop, Chop, Chop!
