Annual "Pow Wow 2008 - The Magic of Cub Scouting"
Want to learn more about outdoor activities in Scouting? Want to learn about leather-working and wood-working and other hands-on crafting? Want to add pizzazz to den meetings? Want to become a fully-trained Scout leader?

Then attend "Pow Wow 2008 - The Magic of Cub Scouting" on Saturday, November 1. It's a full day of fun-filled hands-on learning opportunities for every level of Cub Scout leadership, including parents. Choose from a variety of classes that best suit your individual needs.
Especially...
  • BALOO: This all-day outdoor orientation class that prepares you for outdoor Scouting fun. Information on camping, cooking, safety, and activities. Note that our Pack must have at least one BALOO-trained adult on every campout, including Winter Camping. Consider taking BALOO so your boy can have fun every year at Broadcreek!

  • Den Leader training: Become a fully-trained den leader and wear the "trained" patch with pride. You must attend all three of the following classes: New Leader Essentials at 10-11:50am (class #46), Introduction to Cub Scouts & How We Have Fun at 1:20-3:00pm (class #47), and the appropriate Tiger/CubScout/Webelos Den Leader class at 3:10-4pm (class #48-51).

  • People who want to be handy: Pow Wow offers classes in wood craft, leather working, making neckerchief slides, making awards and recognitions, whittling, story telling, service projects, and other fun activities.

Pow Wow 2008 will be held at Overlea High School in northern Baltimore city, near the intersection of I-695, I-895, and I-95. Other people from Pack 731 are attending, so maybe we could carpool. Contact Molly Weems at [committeechair@croftonpack731.org] if you want to ride instead of drive.

The registration fee of $30 goes up to $40 after October 24, but even walk-ins are welcome for $45 per person. The fee includes classes all day, lunch, CD of class materials, tote bag, and other goodies.

For more information and the registration form, contact Molly Weems at [committeechair@croftonpack731.org]. The files are also available online at www.baltimorebsa.org - "Training" - "Pow Wow".

Popcorn Sales Opportunity!

Attention Pack 731:

For Sunday's popcorn sales at Giant, the middle shift 11:30 - 2:00 is open. We are opening this shift to all scouts who would like to show up and sell!

Sales totals will count toward each participating scout's totals for prizes.

If you would like to particiapte, please send an email to Tim Spencer at spencer_tim@yahoo.com, or phone him at 410 721-3228. We'll need at least one adult supervising, and pref. a den leader or assistant also.

Please help us - otherwise dens 2 and 12 (morning and afternoon shifts) will have to each make 2 trips to the storage unit to load and unload popcorn.

Thanks!

Tim

Pack Powwow on October 10
Calling all Pack 731 Cub Scouts to the first Pack Powwow (all-Pack meeting) of the year! Join all the boys of Pack 731 on Friday, October 10, from 7:30 to 8:30pm in the cafeteria at Crofton Elementary. Please arrive promptly so we can start on time and get out on time.

(We meet at Crofton Elementary because we're so big and active that we don't fit in Prince of Peace church, which is our actual chartering organization. The meeting location has nothing to do with where Pack 731 boys attend school.)

Boys from several dens will be performs skits, songs, or show&tell, we'll have a special activity time, and you'll get to meet the other boys in the Pack. All Scouts should wear Cub Scout uniforms, but do not bring your Handbooks. The Powwows are strictly for fun.

See you on Friday night!
